Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What kinds of cases and clients will you take?

A:  Our legal experience is broad, and we’ll take a look at almost any type of case.  Although we focus on intellectual property (including patent, copyright, and trade secret litigation), we have experience in numerous legal areas, including numerous types of commercial disputes and business litigation, personal injury and product liability litigation, and privacy law.  We have successfully litigated numerous high-profile, complex cases against some of the world’s biggest companies and most prestigious law firms.  We have also represented individuals and smaller companies in the Twin Cities and elsewhere.

Q:  Do you represent individuals or businesses?  Do you represent plaintiffs or defendants?

A:  All of the above.  No matter what your legal problem, feel free to give us a call.  If we are unable to assist you with your legal problem, we may be able to help you find a lawyer who can.

Q:  You don’t have as many attorneys and employees as the big firms.  Can you still take on large and complex cases?

A:  Yes, we can.  We’re built to handle complex cases with a tough, efficient approach that focuses on results.  Some of our characteristics include:  Lean staffing of cases, where the lawyers who take your case to court are the same lawyers who have worked on your case from the first day.  Fewer delays.  Improved communication with clients.  Enlisting technology to reduce expense.  More time spent on issues important to clients and cases, less time on irrelevant issues and gamesmanship with opposing counsel. Flexible fee arrangements that level the playing field for clients.

Q:  Why should I entrust my case to you?

A:  Because we are highly skilled attorneys committed to providing our clients the highest level of client service.  We’re proud of our track record practicing law on a local and national scale.  If for whatever reason we are not completely confident in our ability to handle your case, we won’t take it.

Q:  Does your “Results Only” mission statement mean that you can promise results?

A:  Definitely not.  No law firm can ethically promise any particular result.  What we mean by “Results Only” is that our mission is to provide excellent results to our clients and avoid practices that unnecessarily increase the expense, inconvenience, and anxiety of litigation.  Although results are our goal, we can’t guarantee any particular result.

Q:  Why Southwest Minneapolis instead of Downtown?

A:  We are able to take advantage of today's technology to offer the same level of client service as any downtown firm.  In addition, we wanted unique offices in a safe neighborhood, a place that was enjoyable to visit and easily accessible to our clients.  We think our location fits the bill perfectly.
