 Niall A. MacLeod Joins Firm, Brings 10 Years Patent Litigation Expertise MINNEAPOLIS, April 4, 2007 – Myers & Boebel L.L.P. announced today that Minneapolis litigator and registered patent attorney Niall MacLeod has agreed to join the firm as a name partner. With MacLeod’s addition the firm becomes Myers, Boebel & MacLeod L.L.P. MacLeod joins the firm with more than 10 years experience litigating high-profile patent cases and commercial disputes. MacLeod also has experience prosecuting patents and is admitted to practice before the bar of the United States Patent & Trademark Office. “We are very pleased that Niall has accepted our offer to join the firm,” said Aaron Myers, a founding partner of the firm. “Niall has established himself as a preeminent litigator and, in keeping with the spirit of our firm, a common-sense and practical lawyer with a demonstrated track record of getting great results for his clients.” MacLeod’s litigation experience spans numerous technologies and includes representation of prominent national companies such as Medtronic and General Electric. From 2002-2005, MacLeod represented California company TVI, the owner of several patents covering the autoplay feature of Windows, in litigation against software giant Microsoft. TVI claimed that all versions of Microsoft Windows since Windows 95 infringed TVI’s patents. The case settled in October 2005 with Microsoft taking a license under the patents. MacLeod previously practiced law at the national law firms Dorsey & Whitney LLP and Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. “Niall is an impact lawyer,” said Nicholas Boebel, a founding partner of the firm, who worked closely with Niall MacLeod at Robins, Kaplan Miller & Ciresi L.L.P. “He has proven himself as a difference-maker on cases.
